Polysecure by Jessica Fern is, as the title suggests, a book about the intersection of attachment theory and polyamory. Fern is a polyamorous clinical psychotherapist and draws a lot of her insights from her practice with nonmonogamous clients. I was skeptical because I’ve often found that books about attachment theory are overly simplistic and treat their readers like children, insisting that attachment styles have bright-line boundaries, clear root causes in childhood, and often imply that natural human diversity in attachment style is immoral. I’m happy to report that my concerns were unfounded.
