Covid Confrontation
A sequel to this.
To the tune of:
PATIENT 23:
It's May, at last the CDC agrees
We can go and rejoin our social scenes
EPIDEMIOLOGIST:
Before you say another word, my friend
Before you take off your mask again
Listen to me, there is something you must do
There are many out there who haven't got the vaccine
And some who are immunocompromised
In mercy's name, a few months are all we need
Then you'll be free, I pledge my word
Then you'll be free
PATIENT 23:
You must think me mad!
I've waited these long fifteen month
Your covid rules will never change
Your rules don't make sense
EPIDEMIOLOGIST:
Believe of me
What you will
There is a duty that I'm sworn to do
You know nothing of the science
All you did was read some blogs
You know nothing of the virus
You would never stop the spread
But I must fight to keep our system strong
I am warning you, my friend
The virus isn't done by far
There is power in it yet
Its race is not yet run!
I am warning you, my friend
We need to kill covid dead
Together we can eradicate
Let's do what must be done
PATIENT 23:
Covid rules, they never change
Covid scolds, you never change
No!
You go on and on
I need to live my life!
I have my rights
Fauci says I can ditch this mask
Now the wheel has turned around
The CDC is with me now
Dare you talk to me of spread
And how we must sacrifice
You're the ones who banned our tests
And allocation by price
You know nothing here, my friend
I must go outside again
I can't stay locked in my room
I must leave this makeshift tomb
EPIDEMIOLOGIST:
And this I swear to you tonight
PATIENT 23:
You won't convince me now to hide
EPIDEMIOLOGIST:
The world will one day open up
PATIENT 23:
I cannot just hide away
EPIDEMIOLOGIST:
And we will all go back to normal
BOTH:
I swear to you, (we/I) will get there
